Basarbovo, mosteiro na rocha

Iconostase de uma capela na rocha. A iconostase (significa exposição de imagens
 em grego) divide a parte mais pública da capela da parte mais reservada, onde,

creio eu, só vão os padres. Esta está reduzida ao essencial, mas as Iconostases
de igrejas maiores podem ter centenas de imagens. Tem que haver uma porta
 central, usada no culto, e uma imagem de Cristo como Todo-Poderoso (Pantocrator),
ou seja, na versão julgadora do Juízo Final. Tem que haver também a Mãe de Deus
(Theotokos) com Jesus ao colo, simbolizando portanto o tempo entre

o nascimento de Jesus e o Juízo Final. Há também outras imagens,

nomeadamente o santo a que está dedicada a igreja.

Ikonostasis of a rock chapel. Ikonostasis means image display in Greek and it

divides the more public part of the church from the most reserved, where, I believe,

only the priests are allowed to enter. This one is reduced to the essential
but the ikonostasis of large churches can have hundreds of images.

There must be a central door used in the cult and an image of Christ as 

All-Powerful (Pantokrator), meaning as in the Final Judgement.

There must be also the Mother of Gog (Theotokos) with Jesus in her

lap, symbolizing the time between the birth of Jesus and the Final

Judgement. Other images may appear, namely the saint to whom

the church is dedicated.
